Anointing of the Sick

The pastoral care of the sick involves several areas of attention.

1. An emergency or time of crisis: Sometimes a situation occurs when a person is suddenly faced with a crisis of life or death. At such a time, the parish priest should be called immediately (Parish Office 235-0181).

2. Hospitalization: As a general rule, the Catholic chaplain of a particular hospital will provide for the pastoral care of the patients. Parishioners are encouraged to inform the Parish Office when a family member is hospitalized so that prayers may be offered for the sick person.

3. Confinement at home: Those parishioners who are confined to their homes because of advanced age, physical disability, or chronic illness may request Communion be brought to them on a regular basis by calling the Parish Office or the Pastoral Assistant, Mr. Christopher Dixon
(235-2374).

4. Residence in a Care Facility: Those Catholics who reside in the several long term care facilities within the parish can request that Communion be brought to them at that facility by calling Mr. Dixon or the Parish Office. On Sunday mornings, the Parish provides bus transportation for any of these residents who are able to get to church for Mass.
