Noah's Ark Childcare and Church Readiness Noah's Ark is a supervised Childcare and Church Readiness Program for toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarten children whose parents or guardians are attending the 10:30am Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel. The goals of Noah's Ark are to provide the children attending with an early christian education program, to strengthen their foundation of faith, and to introduce church readiness skills at an age-appropriate level. The children are led in various activities throughout the session, and follow a set routine which includes prayer, ritual, scripture, music, and craft. Children in the "Upper Deck" participate in the weekly Gospel Readings, Prayer of the Faithful, and rituals. Children in the "Lower Deck" celebrate God's love through the Story of Creation and Old Testament readings. Noah's Ark is a lectionary-based program. Children are provided with hands-on activities to reinforce the week's lesson, as well as home activities to share together as a family. This ministry is staffed by well-trained volunteers who include: *Confirmation candidates *High School students *Parents of children attending / other adult parishioners Noah's Ark is available weekly during the 10:30am Mass from October to May, and meets in the Early Childhood Center. Two "Decks" are available, so age-appropriate lessons are given to meet the developmental needs of the children.
