Initiation Process for Elementary, Junior High, and High School Children
(Sacramental Preparation Process) Contact: Dr. Linda Dix: 856-235-7136
Children above the usual age for sacramental reception are to be enrolled in a class appropriate for their age. They will be prepared through a separate catechetical process for the reception of the sacraments. Children who seek entrance into the Catholic Church who have been baptized in another faith will receive initial preparation and will make a profession of faith prior to receiving the Sacraments (The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults – Diocese of Trenton A Practical Guide) The child participates in the initiation process by attending weekly sessions on Tuesdays, 7pm to 8pm. In these sessions, the candidate becomes familiar with Lectionary readings for the week, and receives instruction preparing for celebration of the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist, or Confirmation.
