Mission Club
Under the leadership of the Director of Religious Education,
the members of the Mission Club develop mission awareness and promote
mission activities within the school. These activities provide
a concrete connection between students of Our Lady of Good Counsel
School and children growing up in the developing world. The
Mission Club also works in conjunction with the Holy Childhood Association
(HCA) in educating students about the lives of their brothers and
sisters from different cultures and helps to encourage students'
participation in programs that raise funds for children in need.
Fifth and sixth graders meet monthly from October to May to hear
guest speakers, participate in mission service projects, receive
mission magazines and HCA materials, and view slides or videos which
promote global mission awareness. Each meeting concludes with
a raffle of global handicrafts. The members also pray and
sing in Haitian Creole. By learning about and participating in the
mission activity of the Church, the students make a difference
in the lives of people throughout the world and walk in step with
missionaries in the developing countries. They live the message
of the Gospel, and in their leadership, call other students
to live it as well.
