Social Groups

Seniors meet in Heritage House after the 9 am Mass on the second and fourth Tuesdays of months from September to May for a coffee hour, where they have time to socialize.  The Parish Nurses check blood pressure and discuss any medical concerns.  On the fourth Tuesday, a presentation on topics suggested by the group is included.

The M.O.M.s Group meets in Heritage House after the 9 AM Mass on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month and welcomes children along with their mothers.   The group shares insights on the previous Sunday Gospel.  Children’s toys and snacks are provided as Moms encourage each other to grow in faith and recognize the importance of their roles as mothers.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: Since biblical times, shawls have symbolized shelter, peace and spiritual sustenance. Since the Prayer Shawl Ministry began in 2006 parishioners of Our Lady of Good Counsel have lovingly donated their  talents by creating hand-knitted and crocheted shawls filled with the power of prayer, for healing, comforting the sick, the lonely and the elderly. Shawls are also given in times of celebrations.

The Parish Health Ministry supports the well being of the whole person – mind, body and spirit to make informed choices on their mental, physical and spiritual health.  We identify community resources to support holistic wellness  and understanding and support for those coping with illness.

Gathering Sundays let parishioners share coffee and food in the school cafeteria while welcoming newcomers and visiting friends. The monthly gathering follows 10:30am Mass on the third Sunday during the fall, winter and spring seasons. The cafeteria is wheelchair accessible via the front of the school building.  Contact Jane McCorkell, mcorkellj@olgcnj.org or call 856-235-2374 for more information about any of these activities.
