Missions
Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish has partnered with the Missionaries of the Poor in Jamaica under the leadership of Father Richard Ho Lung and raised funds to build shelters for the homeless in Kingston, Jamaica and to support the Missionaries of the Poor who serve the poor without charge. In addition, parishioners pray both publicly and privately for the Missionaries’ success .
The parish also sponsors trips to Jamaica by parishioners to help the Missionaries of the Poor and the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany (who run St. Francis Primary School in Kingston). For the school, the parish frequently ships books to promote literacy among the children there.
