Initiation Process (Sacramental Preparation for Older Students)

Elementary and Junior High School Children

This process is designed to bring the older child into full participation in the sacramental life of the Church.

  • First Year – During the first year the child will be mainstreamed on grade level.
  • Second Year – The child participates in the initiation process by attending weekly sessions on Tuesday evenings, 7:00 pm – 8:00  pm.  In these sessions, the candidate becomes familiar with Lectionary readings for the week, and receives instruction preparing for celebration of the sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation.  The child will participate in special rites highlighting his/her spiritual journey.

The High School Initiation Process

Candidates are high school students who have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Students attend weekly sessions on Tuesday evenings, 7:00 pm – 8:00  pm, become familiar with Lectionary readings for the week, and receive instruction preparing for celebration of Confirmation.  Students participate in special rites highlighting their spiritual journey.
