Academics

The educational excellence and professionalism of OLGC’s faculty and the innovative and educationally sound curriculum have directly contributed to the academic success of the students of Our Lady of Good Counsel School.

Standardized tests are administered to students in grades two through seven each spring. Achievement tests are administered to all of these students as well. Those in fourth through seventh grades receive a cognitive abilities test. The principal, teachers, and specialists review the reported scores.  Each parent receives a copy of these test results.

Consistently, Good Counsel students have demonstrated a high level of achievement and ability, scoring above national averages on standardized tests. On the 2011 Terra Nova test, our students scored an average of 14 points higher than the national average in combined Reading/Vocabulary, 16 points higher in combined Mathematics/Math Computation, 12 points higher in Science, 15 points higher in Social Studies and 15 points higher in combined Language/Language Mechanics.

Another indication of the fine preparation which Good Counsel School affords its students is the quality of the schools which they attend after graduation and the academic success achieved at these institutions. Among the secondary schools which the students attend are Holy Cross High School, Bishop Eustace Prep, St. Joseph’s Prep, Camden Catholic High School, Moorestown High School, and Lenape High School. The vast majority of the students graduate from these schools with honors and have attended such colleges and universities as Notre Dame, Georgetown, Loyola, Yale, Villanova, St. Joseph’s, the Naval Academy, and Johns Hopkins.

Excellence in faculty, curriculum, and instruction is the foundation of an educationally superior institution.  Our Lady of Good Counsel School displays this excellence in all areas.

As a measure of its continued commitment to academic growth, this year the school is offering an after school enrichment program that provides opportunities for our children to try new things, gain new skills, and most importantly, have fun!
