ILA – (Integrated Language Arts) Our reading book is called Storytown by Harcourt School Publishers. Our first theme is “School Days”. More information about this program can be found at www.harcourtschool.com/storytown.

Math – This year in math we will cover many areas including place value, all the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as well as measurement, geometry, and fractions. A large part of our time will be spent on multiplication and division. It is very important that your child memorize the multiplication facts.

Religion – We will be learning about the Church. It is very important that your child participates in the Mass each week in order to practice what we are learning.

Social Studies – Third grade explores Communities. Students will be taught how to study the vocabulary words found in the text by making flash cards.

Science – We will study Life Science, Physical Science, Earth Science, and the Human Body.

Homework – Homework will be written in our homework planner each night. Parents please sign the book each night after you have checked that the day’s work has been completed.

Thursday – Computers with Mrs. Casey

Friday – Library with Mrs. Overbeck

Please Remember the following:

1. Pencils should be SHARPENED when students come to school.

2. Notes are needed for absent students as well as Dismissal. Please let your child know where they will be going at the end of the day BEFORE they leave in the morning.

3. Any money being handed into school should be:

*In an envelope

*Have your child’s name on it.

*Label where the money is going

2 canisters of green wipes

2 boxes of tissues

1 chapter book

1/2 inch binder for Spanish

4 Jumbo book socks

1 Art box (6 qt./5.7L) no bigger or smaller (Target)

Please cover workbooks with clear contact paper. (6)
