Physical Education

Welcome to OLGC gym website.

Ultimate frisbee has recently been added to our list of gym class activities.  It is

similar to soccer, instead of kicking a ball, a fisbee is thrown.  The player with the

frisbee is only allowed to take two steps.

Grades K-8 have also competed in various forms of relay races.  Students will develop

team-working abilities, as well as, following directions during their respective “leg” of

the race (ie placing a ball in a basket, circling cones, waiting for one’s teammate to finish prior to starting.)

Grades K-8 will continue practicing push-ups and sit-ups, in conjunction with our daily

yoga routine.  Hence, students are more likely to see improvement in the spring when we retest.

Below is a “fitness standards” link that provides the necessary data pertaining to “The Presidential Physical Fitness Test.”   The upper chart is for those who qualify for the top 85th percentile and the bottom chart is passing/50th percentile in the nation.  Best of luck to all participants!
