Our Pre-K curriculum focuses on social development, motor control, language, visual and math skills.  This curriculum is provided in a loving and safe environment which is faith based.  We are teaching the children to respect themselves and others.  We work on all of these areas together through daily routines and activities.

Social – Social growth is developed in both large and small group settings.  We are teaching the children to play and work cooperatively together.  The children are taught how to work out problems, and how to ask for help when they need it.  Through all aspects of our daily routine the children are learning how to listen and follow directions.  We are working towards listening and following three and four step directions.

Motor - Throughout the year we will be working on both gross and fine motor skills.  In the area of gross motor we work on running, jumping, hopping, skipping, tossing, and catching.  In the area of fine motor we work on small muscle coordination such as stringing beads and building with blocks.  We also continue to work on proper pencil grip, and control of crayons, markers, pencils and scissors.

Language – Language is used in every aspect of our day.  We work with the children to speak in sentences, and participate in group discussions.  The children must verbally identify the colors.  We also work throughout the year on reciting the alphabet in sequence.

Visual - Visual skills are also taught throughout the year.  The children match colors, shapes and sizes.  We also work on shape and color recognition.  Also the children work on recognizing and writing their first names.  The children will learn to copy circles, horizontal, and vertical strokes.  Throughout the year the children will also learn to recognize the uppercase letters in the alphabet.

Math – Children will identify the shapes circle, square, triangle, rectangle, diamond and oval.  We will also focus on one to one correspondence.  Children will recognize and write numbers 1-10 and count by rote to 20.  We will also explore patterning and classifying.

Religion – We follow a Religion series which is called I Am Special.  This series focuses on making your child feel special.  It is broken down into five units.  The first unit is called God Made Me.  In this unit we talk about what makes each child special.  The second unit is called I Can Discover.  In this unit the children learn about the five senses.  The third unit is called I Discover God’s Gifts.  In this unit the children learn about God’s creation and what makes the world around them special.  The fourth unit is called I Can Love.  This unit focuses on abstract areas such as helping, sharing, waiting, listening and praying.  The fifth unit is called I Can Celebrate and it focuses on the Holidays.
