Student Council
The Student Council has been very active since the opening of the school year. We check in every morning with Miss Sullivan to see if there is anything we need to work on or announce to the students. All of the officers, commissioners, and homeroom representatives get great ideas from their classroom to bring to our monthly meetings.

We organized the Halloween activities for the school. Some of them were tag day, a drawing contest, raffles, hallway contest, and hidden pumpkins in each classroom.
Our next monthly meeting is November 7th when we will begin planning our activities for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We hope that this will be a great year for all the students at Our Lady of Good Counsel.
Your President, Joe Caputi |
In Student Council, students get a first hand opportunity to develop and demonstrate their leadership skills in a participatory government. Starting in 4th grade, homeroom representatives are chosen by teachers based on demonstrated ability and interest.
Homeroom representatives from 4th through 8th grades attend Student Council meeting and have the opportunity to present the interests of their homerooms. These representatives report back to classrooms about new developments.
In grades 7 & 8, officers are chosen through a real student campaign process that is fun, creative and yes, competitive! Students in grades 4-8 get to vote in the primaries and eventually elect their Council Officers. Through the years, Good Counsel's Student Council works on internal school projects and as well, community projects that make a positive difference. The underlying force for the success of Good Counsel's Student Council is due to the unwavering dedication of 8th grade teacher, Ms. Mary Sullivan.
