Sacristan, Lector, Usher
Lectors: We train parishioners to proclaim the Scripture readings and make announcements at Mass. Anyone in Eucharistic Communion with the Church may volunteer for this ministry. We usually wait until one has received Confirmation before admitting them as Readers; in the year a person is a candidate for confirmation, they may be admitted as readers. Orientation is easy, requiring only an hour and a clear and concise handbook is provided. Once you complete training, you will be scheduled for a weekend liturgy of your choice. To arrange for training, please call JoAnne Campbell at 856-866-8884 or email email@example.com.
Ushers: They are needed at all Masses to help seat parishioners, distribute bulletins and assist with the collection of gifts. To volunteer, please contact Deacon Ed Heffernan, 856-905-5019 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sacristan: Please contact Deacon Ed Heffernan at the phone number above to volunteer as a Sacristan. Sacristans prepare the worship space and everything used in our Parish liturgies. Sacristans open and close the Church, and organize the sacristy for each assigned Mass. They must know the sacred vessels, vestments, altar linens, cloths, and books used during the liturgy. Sacristans prepare all locations where Mass is celebrated here: the Church, Crypt and the all-purpose room (gym). Preparing the gifts of bread and wine, assisting the priest and deacon to ready for Mass, and verifying that all readers, altar servers, and ministers of Communion are present are the sacristan’s responsibility. Sacristans also remain in the sacristy during Mass in case of emergency.
